Minisite Instructions
Creating a minisite is easy. Just click the Get Your FREE minisite button on the home page at www.minisite.com. Instructions will be given to you for each step of the process. For your convenience, we have included most of the instructions for creating a minisite in this document. However, it is easiest to just start creating a site and follow the instructions as you need them.
Creating A Minisite
Creating a minisite is easy and it takes less than a minute to get started. The site is already created for you. All you do is edit the existing information. To get started enter your name, e-mail, and a password. After that, you simply continue to add information to your site. You can stop and start anytime you want to. Use your log-in name and password to log-in anytime to make more changes.
Editing Your Site
The site to the right is what your site looks like now. As you make changes, your site will change. Grayed out text will turn black as you add more features. The top bar ICON will become active as you add more information.
To add more information, just click on the various options below.
The links below will take you to a page that explains the option in more detail and give you simple instructions. Once you have completed an option, a check mark will show up by that option to help you keep track of what features you might still want to add. You can always go back to any option to make more changes.
Change My Name
Your name is the text that shows up at the top of your site. These words are also automatically set to be searchable. So anyone that comes to minisite.com and enters your name in a search will get your minisite in the results.
Simply enter the new name in the box below and hit save. The new name will change immediately and it will show up on the sample minisite to the right.
Change My E-mail
Changing your e-mail does NOT change your log-in e-mail address. It will always be the same. However, the top left icon button is for people to send e-mails to you WITHOUT you having to give them your e-mail address. Anyone who clicks this button will be sent to a dialogue box that lets them enter a message to you. The message will be sent to the e-mail that you enter below. This is what we call BLIND-E-MAIL. It is a safe way for you to let people contact you without giving out your e-mail.
Simply enter your e-mail in the address box below. By default the e-mail address is the e-mail address you used to create your site.
Change My Password
Your password is the password you use to log-in. This is where you can change it.
Simply type the password in the two boxes below and click SAVE.
Change Opening Text
Your opening text is generally a brief Welcome statement or About You statement. These are limited to 1,000 characters. For personal sites, it is best to say a few things about what is inside your site. Mentioning something about your latest additions to your site are always good. For business sites, a quick statement of the products and services you have to offer are great.
Simply type over the text below and click save. If you copy and paste from another file, remember that the file is limited to 1,000 characters.
Link to My Website
The second Button ICON on the top is a quick link to a large website of your choice. For businesses, this is where you put your large site domain. For personal sites, this is where you can put your link to your personal space or book site.
Simply enter your URL (website address) in the text box below and hit save. If your web address is an HTML address, you can enter it in the lower box.
Add Photo Albums and Photos
Photo Albums are the best place for you to share photos. For personal sites, you can share the fun times and experiences with your friends and family. For business sites, you can show your products and services.
Simply click BROWSE. You will then be sent to a directory of your computer. Simply go to the photo of your choice and click open.
Once you have opened up to 5 photos, click the UPLOAD button.
Add Music
You can share your music with your family and friends. All copyright laws till apply. If you are not sure if you have the right to upload a file, we suggest you make the file Private so only your friends can listen to the files. You should also set the file so that it is not downloadable.
Simply browse to the music file and click upload. You can upload audio files of format: .mpeg|.mp3|.m4a|.m3u|.aac|.aif|.iff|.mid|.midi|.mpa|.wav|.wma|.ra
Add Videos
You can share your videos with your family and friends. All copyright laws till apply. If you are not sure if you have the right to upload a file, we suggest you make the file Private so only your friends can listen to the files. You should also set the file so that it is not downloadable.
Simply browse to the video file and click upload. You can upload video files of format : .wmv|.mpg|.asf|.asx|.avi|.rm
Put Things in My Folder
You can put any type of file in your folder. This is great for brochures, maps, drawing, documents, spreadsheets, or presentations. You can even put music or video files in this folder. If you are going to put a video or music file, you must select the appropriate file type.
Simply browse the file of your choice and click upload.
Put Things in My Lockbox
You can put any type of file in your lockbox. This is great for private files that you would like to access when you are away from your home computer. It is also a great place to transfer files to other people in a secure method.
Simply browse the file of your choice. Enter a password and click upload.
Enter My Contact Information
The fourth Button Icon on the top row is the Contact Information button. When people click this, your contact information will be shown. For personal sites, the default is set to private so that only your approved friends can see this information. For business sites, the default is set to public so that your customers can quickly find your contact information.
Simply enter the appropriate information below and click Save.
Add Search Words to My Site
Search words are used to help people quickly find your site when they are looking for related items.
Simply enter words (separated by commas) that relate something about the content, photos, or files of your Minisite. Enter key words below and click the Save button. After your key words are entered, you can use the minisite search feature to check your key words. You are limited to 30 key words.
See Who Has My Site
Once people have created a minisite, they can click the PLUS button on your site to add their site to their favorites list. When they do this, their name will show up here.
By default, everybody who adds your site to their favorites list is given public access. Only you can give anyone private access. Private access will give them access to your private photo albums, music, videos, and other files marked private.
Simply click the box under the Private access column. To set them back to Public access, click the box under private.
Connect My Cell Phone to My Site
You can upload images/videos to your Minisite directly from your camera phone. You can even set captions for your photos.
Enter your 10 digit mobile phone number below: (e.g. 8173334444). Do not use spaces, periods, or hyphens.
Take a picture on your phone and email it to savepic@minisite.com. Place your caption in the SUBJECT line. Uploaded images will automatically appear in an album titled cell phone photos.

NOTE: Depending on how often your mail server refreshes, it could take 2 to 60 minutes to show up in your minisite.
Add My Personal Site to a Showcase
Be a part of something! Express yourself! Share your photos with the world! It’s easy! Just create a site related to one of the popular personal showcases and add it to the showcase.
First choose which of your sites you would like to add. Then choose which showcase you want to add it to. Your site will be added immediately and it is FREE. However, your site will be reviewed within 72 hours. If it is found to NOT be appropriate for the showcase, your site will be deleted from the showcase. You will not be able to add to future showcases.
Add My Business Site to a Showcase
The business trade showcases are a great way to gain added exposure to your business. The consumers that browse the trade showcases are interested in products and services related to that particular showcase.
First choose which of your sites you would like to add. Then choose which showcase you want to add it to. Your site will be added immediately.
On the next screen, you will able to choose a single region for placement. Placement in the regional showcases range in price from less than $10 per month.
Add My Business Site to a Showcase
You are just seconds away from having thousands of people start to see your minisite in one of our popular showcases. First, a few things you will want to know.
Our primary audience is drawn from paid Google searches. As people search for key words related to our showcase, our ads show up. This way, you get thousands of people to your site when they are actually searching for solutions.
We also use traditional marketing campaigns including magazine ads, radio ads, print ads, and billboards as we enter a new region.

We have four different packages for Regional Advertisers:-
(1) Basic: $10 per month. Your site will show up in the National Showcase and all searches. When the consumer clicks your region, your site will be between the 73rd and 300th site to appear.
(2) Premium: $150 per qtr. Your site will show up in the National Showcase and all searches. When the consumer clicks your region, your site will be between the 37th and 72nd site to appear.
(3) Aggressive Marketing: $200 per month. Your site will show up in the National Showcase and all searches. When the consumer clicks your region, your site will be between the 7th and 36th site to appear.
(4) Select Marketing: $500 per month. These sites are the first six sites to show up. They get the maximum amount of exposure. They must be approved by the showcase manager and are limited to select categories. No two sites in the same category can have select marketing in the same showcase.
(5) National Advertisers: These sites show up near the front of the showcase when a person first enters the showcase and prior to the consumer selecting a region. National advertisers are by invitation only. To be considered as a national advertiser, send a description of your site and request to info@minisite.com
How much is one new customer worth to your business?
(Your site ranking is based on the order that you place your site in the showcase. The earlier you join the showcase, the closer to the front of the show, your site will appear. Space is limited)
See My Saved Minisites
The fifth Button ICON across the top is the Favorites link. Just click that button to show all your favorite sites.
Simply click the + button at the top right of each minisite when you are logged in. You will get a pop-up with the below response. Choose a category and click submit.
NOTE: Private will only show up when you are logged in and are looking at your friends. This is great when you have friends that do not want their minisite viewed by all your other fans. Or for that old buddy of yours that you like to keep up with that your new buddy just doesn’t approve of.
To delete a site from your favorites simply click the - button at the top right.
Set Up My FTP Upload Page
The FTP (File Transfer Protocol) upload page is a way that you can let other people transfer large files to you. When you need a secure way to transfer files from one location or another, use your FTP upload page. E-mail is great for small files, but an FTP upload is much more secure and easier for those special files.
Simply enter a user name and a password for anyone that you would like to let upload to your folder. Give them the name and password.
They simply click the middle Button ICON to upload a file. They will be asked for their user name and password. After they enter the information, they can browse to upload any file. The files will be located on this page. You will get an e-mail when the file is uploaded.
You can even give yourself a user name and password so you can transfer files from work or school to home. You can give the same user name and password to a group of people so they can all upload related files.
Change My Site Color
You can change the color of your minisite anytime you want to. Change the color to blend in with your opening image or to show your mood or just your favorite color.
Simply click the drop down arrow and select the color you want. The sample site to the right will change so you can see how the color looks on your site. After you are pleased with your color, click the done button to go back to the edit screen.
Get My Own Domain Name
Your own domain name allows you to be able to send people a link that opens a page just for your website. It is the easiest way to let people see your new photos, videos, or other new items you have added to your website. Simply send them an e-mail with your domain address in the e-mail. They will only have to click the link to open your site.
Simply type in the name you would like to show up after www.minisite.com
Get My Mobile Version of My Site
The mobile version of your site is already created. You simply need to give people your minisite domain name to enter in their phone. If you haven’t gotten your own domain name, go back to Edit My Site and click the Get My Own Domain Name option.
To Have Your Minisite Show Up on Phones When People Enter Your Large Website Address Into There Cell Phone.
Let’s face it, most large websites don’t look all that great on mobile phones, but consumers who have mobile phones and smart phones expect your site to look good on their phone. With a simple line of code that you place at the top of your website code, your website will automatically detect if the person is using a phone to access your website, if they are their phone will show the mobile version of your minisite rather than your large site.
Simply copy the text in the box to the right and place it in code of your large site. Then enter in your large website address into a phone and see what happens.

Create Multiple Sites
You can create multiple sites with the same log-in. For personal sites, you might want a site for your children, pets, or a special event. For business sites, you might want to tailor your site for different showcases or customers. Whatever the reason for having multiple sites, you can do that here.
Simply enter in a name for the site and choose if it is a personal or business website. Then click the create minisite now button. Your other site will stay just the way it is while you work on this site. You can change back and forth between sites all you want. There is no limit to the number of sites you create.
The site you are currently working on will show up in the sample site to the right of most edit pages. To change to a different site, simply click the change to another of my sites in the Gold Minisite Options.
Change to Another of My Sites
If you have created multiple sites, you can switch back and forth during the same log-in.
Simply click the down arrow on the drop down menu below and select the site you want to work on. The one you are currently working on will show up in the screen to the right.
Delete One of My Sites
There is no way to UNDELETE a site once you have deleted it. You also can delete the site that you are currently working on. (Shown to the Right)
Refer Your Friends and Get a GOLD Site
A GOLD site comes with extras like multiple sites, multiple colors for your site, your own domain name for your site, and much more.
To get your GOLD options turned on, you just need to spread the word about your site. And ask your friends to create their own site. As they create sites, you will get referral credits. As soon as you get 3 referral credits, your site will automatically been given the GOLD options.
The first thing you want to do is to add some photos and other items to your minisite so that it looks good. Then just e-mail your friends the link to the right. The link is connected to your referral credits. Not only will they see your site, but if they create their own site you will get credit.

Add To National Showcase
You can add it to any of the showcases to get added exposure.
Simply use the drop down to choose a site from the sites you have created. Then click the showcase you want and click the add button.
Manage Your Showcase
You can rearrange the order of the sites in your showcase here. You can also delete a site in a showcase.
First, select the name of your site. Then use the arrows to move your site up or down.
To delete a site, simply click the delete button next to the site’s title.
Transfer Photos Between Albums
You can change photos from one album to the other. Simply choose the albums. Then choose the photos and click the arrow buttons to move the selected photos. |
